"A deliciously charming novel about finding true love . . . and yourself.Nothing ever happens in Little, CA. Which is just the way Carter Moon likes it. But when Hollywood arrives to film a movie starring former child star turned PR mess Adam Jakes, everything changes. Carter's town becomes a giant glittery set and, much to her annoyance, everyone is starry-eyed for Adam. Carter seems to be the only girl not falling all over herself to get a glimpse of him. Which apparently makes her perfect for the secret offer of a lifetime: playing the role of Adam's girlfriend while he's in town, to improve his public image, in exchange for a hefty paycheck. Her family really needs the money and so Carter agrees. But it turns out Adam isn't at all who she thought he was. As they grow closer, their relationship walks a blurry line between what's real and what's fake, and Carter must open her eyes to the scariest of unexplored worlds - her future. Can Carter figure out what she wants out of life AND get the guy? Or are there no Hollywood endings in real life?"This book is the perfect summertime read for someone looking for a light, fun read.
I honestly had no idea what I was going into when I picked up this book. I didn't know what it was about besides the fact that it involved a movie star. This book was such a delight to read and I'm really looking forward to reading more of Kim Culbertson's work. I have to say that I absolutely adore this cover because it depicts so many scenes in this book.
For the most part this is kind of a light read with a couple of parts that can delve into something harder but the main character's in this book, Adam and Carter, have a lot of depth. The whole time Adam in portrayed as the typical male movie star--someone extremely infatuated with himself, but you also see these moments where Adam looks a little bit free or upset which really shows a whole other side to Adam.
Carter is definitely my type of girl. She's independent, strong, and she doesn't get infatuated with the latest trends. She's a family girl who's looking to live life to the fullest. She's trying to find her way in life and deal with everything in her life, especially with her brother. She's the ultimate small-town girl.
I really like this book because it isn't the overly cliched book about a movie star and a small town girl. Of course, it has it's moments but for the most part you're experiencing something new...not knowing what the outcome will be.
My favorite thing about this book would have to be the little blog inserts in here. It's all about stars and what could be out there in that huge galaxy. It was really fun to learn some new facts and see how it related to the bloggers' lives.
Overall this book was extremely cute and I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a good summer read. This isn't something you would pick up if you are looking for something a little more thought provoking or something with some more grit and intensity.
I highly recommend this book, especially to all the girls out there who are obsessed with some sort of a celebrity. Go to the beach and read this because it's amazing!
